Why?
- You want access to the same settings, templates and songs on multiple computers.
- You want a “backup” in the cloud in case your computer breaks down.
How?
- Close Logic Pro if it is running!
- Create these folders on your iCloud drive
- /Music
- /Music/Audio
- Before the next step, I recommend you make a backup of the following folders in case something goes wrong.
- ~/Library/Audio/Presets
- ~/Music/Logic
- ~/Music/Audio Music Apps
- Move these folders
- ~/Library/Audio/Presets to iCloud/Music/Audio/Presets
- ~/Music/Logic to iCloud/Music/Logic
- ~/Music/Audio Music Apps to iCloud/Music/Audio Music Apps
- Open terminal and create links to the iCloud folders
cd ~/Library/Audio ln -s ~/Library/Mobile\ Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/Music/Audio/Presets/ cd ~/Music ln -s ~/Library/Mobile\ Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/Music/Logic ln -s ~/Library/Mobile\ Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs/Music/Audio\ Music\ Apps
I have been using this trick for many years and found no problems with it. But use this at your own risk!
UPDATE #1:
The only problem I’ve noticed is that Logic can act super weird, slow to start and load projects if your computer is running low on disc space and iCloud is trying to optimise storage.
UPDATE #2:
It seems like macOS Sequoia will include the function Keep Downloaded. So to avoid trouble. Set Keep Downloaded to these folders:
iCloud/Music/Audio/Presets
iCloud/Music/Audio Music Apps
